We were completely reliant on Checkatrade to discover us a competent contractor for our renovation project. We registered and listed our needs, but unfortunately, we were left high and dry.

It all starts with their sneaky costs, which they hide in the small stuff. Then, there's the terrible customer service that's about as helpful as a chocolate teapot. You can try to raise an issue, but it's like chasing ghosts.

Is Checkatrade a Scam?
We thought we were doing the right choice by using Checkatrade to find a reputable plumber/electrician/contractor. After all, they seemed so legitimate with their approved traders. Boy, were we wrong! Our experience was nothing short of a disaster.
Right away, the communication from the "qualified" trader was lackluster/awful/terrible. He was unprofessional/rude/disrespectful and sent us a quote that was outrageous/ridiculous/way too high. We tried to discuss the issues, but he was adamant/unwilling/stubborn to compromise/negotiate/change.
In the end, we ended up having to hire someone else by this so-called "vetted" trader. Checkatrade's helpline was equally useless/incompetent/unhelpful. They offered us a pathetic excuse/blamed the trader/did nothing.
We're left feeling disappointed and suggest looking elsewhere for your tradesman needs.
